The Dining Diva Swoons Over Il Piccolino Restaurant

The Dining Diva plus 1 dined in style again at Il Piccolino–what a meal.

Of course it helps to know Silvio De Mori, one of the two owners. Not because that makes the food any better, it’s always perfect, but when he hears we are coming,  he hand selects a special meal personalized to our gusto.  I’m certain  he does this  for most of his faithful patrons–of which there are many, evinced by the crowd last Saturday night, all of whom know the charming maitre ‘d, restaurateur.

Anyhow we sat side by side at our candle-lit table with a straight shot into the kitchen and perfect vantage point for watching the eager eaters and celebs in attendance (gave our word to Silvio not to name names, but we’re talking big stars).

We began with the seafood on ice–almost a meal in itself, fresh, perfectly seasoned. Moved on to  al dente pasta topped with caviar, penne with sautéed  riddichio, Bronzino flown in from Italy that was amazing, veal to die for (that’s Silvio carving it in the photo below), beef tartare that can’t be beat, and a light dessert of berries and sorbet.

Naturally each course was paired by Silvio’s personally picked wines — you really need to go there.

Quietly expensive, worth every cent, warm, friendly, romantic and inviting, Il Piccolino is one of LA’s finest, if not best. All a matter of taste and ours leans there.

Il Piccolino is open throughout the day, 310 North Robertson Blvd., LA, www.ilpiccolinorestaurant.com.
